3rd Annual North RampART Festival New Orleans, LA November 21, 2009 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Louisiana Main to Main: A Cultural Road Show The North RampART Festival is a free community event celebrating the cultural past, present and future of our historic neighborhoods.
This event has a dual focus - to showcase home-grown artists and musicians to encourage revitalization of the N. Rampart St. corridor by focusing positive attention on the Trem and Vieux Carr neighborhoods. Our goal is to strengthen existing businesses and attract new businesses that have the vision to stay the course, and help rebuild the street to its rightful place of honor.
NRMSI is designed to revitalize North Rampart Street and encompasses the properties located between Canal Street and Esplanade Avenue. These properties, whether through abandonment, neglect, or Katrina damage, are to be nurtured back to its glory days when Rampart Street meant prosperity, vitality, and life on the edge of the historic French Quarter and Trem. North RampART Festival provides a special focus on art and music awareness and education by providing opportunities for locals and visitors alike to create artwork decorated with cultural symbols of the neighborhood.
North Rampart Main Street, Inc. (NRMSI) will once again work with McDonough 15 School for the Creative Arts to participate in the RampART Children's Art Contest and Festival Gallery. Art Showcase: The supplies for the children's art showcase will be provided by North RampART Festival and will include all paper, canvas, paint and painting supplies, for this project. The inclusion of local artists, musicians and young people in the festival, as well as other initiatives of NRMSI, is intended to offer them opportunities to display and sell their talents to residents, prospective employers and clients. They will set up along the promenade on North Rampart St. The artists pay a nominal fee of $50 to set up a space for selling their wares.
